Can't delete a calendar

I have just moved server and tried to transfer my calendar over, didn't work so being optimistic I reinstalled and hoped I could move the data over but that did not work. I have created a new calendar, but now I can not delete the old data as it just says:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /my_secure_path/cl_files/calendar.php on line 405

Is there any way I can delete the data via FTP?

Use your FTP client to change file permissions in data directory. Make sure that the web server is granted the write permissions on the files by either of the below (from most restrictive to least restrictive):
1. make web server the owner of the files and set permissions to 644
2. make web server's group the owner of the files and set permissions to 664
3. just set permissions to 666
