Adding Behaviours to vertical menu

Ok have a site designed, using the free version of Tigra menu, on one of the cells has a sub menu. I need this sub menu to work as a mouse/rollover and it does; but on onclick I need to insert a behavior to open the item in a new window. This works fine with html links inserted on products page, but can't figure out where to insert it in the code on the Menu_items.js and do I need to insert it into the menu_tpl.js and if so where?
