Show special characteres in the status bar

Hi,

I'm from Brazil and here we need to show some special characteres in the status bar. For instance: ç and ã.
We're using Tigra Menu, version 2.0.

The following example:

sb: 'Análises de um Grupo de Balanços'

is displayed correct in some browsers (IE 5+), but in some it's displayed as "Anclises de um Grupo de Balangos".

I was thinking about using ASCII codes, but I don't know how.

Any ideas?
