Memory Fault in IE6.0 when clicking the execute filter button

Has anyone run into the problem of getting a memory fault problem in IE6.0 and IE5.5 (SP3) when you click on the button to lauch the exeFilt() method? This function is used when you want to further filter your search results for a particular pattern. My setting for the filter is 'type': 1 + 2 + 4. I can often reproduce this memory fault by clicking on the button to launch the exeFilt() and then clicking on the button again several times. Sometimes it can happen on a second click and not necessarily because of double-clicking.

Is there a fix for this? Would disabling the button until the exeFilt() finishes executing help to solve this?
