I am now trying to incorporate a checkbox to the tree. I now have the tree in its own frame and the links open in the other frame. I had an idea to give the user the option of checking a checkbox and if checked the documents open in a new window instead of in the frame. Has anyone been successful or even tried this? I have tried several times but can never get it to work.

It is impossible to operate with checkboxes in Tigra Tree Menu. Internally predefined event handlers prevent tree script from processing check-box clicking correctly. The second aspect is that tree nodes including HTML are built only when to be shown and destroyed directly after their hiding, so a check-box corresponding to the same node will not be able to store its value if we hide and show the node again. The solution will be possible with Tigra Tree Menu PRO.

I've been able to get this to work in Tigra Tree Menu PRO...well, sort of.

For IE 5.x and Netscape 6.x, I had to add an onMouseDown event to the checkbox control so that I could capture the focus to set the "checked" property of the checkbox control. NOTE: If you embed HTML controls in your node identity, you will need to override the status bar message with regular text (ie. {'sb':'spacer'}) so that you don't end up with javascript errors.

TREE_NODES = ["Parent",null,null,["<input type=checkboxonMouseOver='this.checked=!this.checked'>",null,{'sb':'spacer'}]];

For Netscape 4.x, you will not need to add the onMouseDown event handler.

There is still the problem of retaining the checkbox value when you collapse and re-expand the same tree node. However, this seems to only be a problem with Netscape browsers (IE 5.50 is able to retain the values of the controls).

If anyone else has another solution to this problem, I would love to see it. I'm dealing with this same issue as well.
