Frame Support
tomig - 9/19/2003 at 04:04 PM

I am posting hoping someone can help since I have gotten no response from support.

I have set up a three frame document. Two of the frames are using menus. By themselves, the menu pop-outs work fine, but when combined in the frames, the main menu items appear but the pop-outs do not appear over the content frame. I have tried so many variety of things based on the online documentation, but I am not getting something right.

This is how I have it set up now.

I have three frames. A "header" frame which goes across the top, a "menu" frame on the bottom left and a "content" frame on the bottom "right". The "content" frame is my slave.

In the "header" html document I have the following:

<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
var MENU_FRAMES = [
['header'],
['menu','content']
]
//-->

</script>
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
new menu (MENU_ITEMS0, MENU_POS0, MENU_FRAMES, "header");
//-->
</script>

In the "menu" html document I have the following:

<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
var MENU_FRAMES = [
['header'],
['menu','content']
]
//-->

</script>
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
new menu (MENU_ITEMS1, MENU_POS1, MENU_FRAMES, "menu");
//-->
</script>

In the "content" I have this code (along with the javascript file references for both menus):

<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
new menu (MENU_ITEMS0, MENU_POS0, null, "header");
//-->
</script>
<script language="JavaScript">
<!--
new menu (MENU_ITEMS1, MENU_POS1, null, "menu");
//-->
</script>

Can someone lead me down the correct path to getting this to work?

Thanks!

So I am a step closer. If I click on the menu item in both frames when in IE5, they reload in the frame and then the popouts work.

Would this indicate that the content frame needs to load first?

Is there code to cause that to occur?

Thanks.
